KSBJ Educational Foundation is a Christ-centered, non-profit, listener-supported radio ministry. By being Christ-centered, we take our lead from God’s son Jesus, as revealed in the Holy Scriptures. As a 501(c)3 non-profit, we’re allowed to offer our supporters the benefits of tax-deductible giving. As a listener-supported Christian station, we’re able to concentrate on creating the kind of radio that encourages listeners not only to “sing along, but live along with us,” and impact lives for Christ.
Our Purpose
Since the station began in 1982, we’ve used music and ministry to accomplish God’s purposes in the life of this radio station. Our purpose is “To be the Voice of Hope connecting People to God.”
Our Vision and Mission
Our vision statement, taken from Acts 1:8(b) says what we’re committed to doing.
“KSBJ seeks to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in Houston (our Jerusalem), in the United States (our Judea and Samaria), and around the world (to the ends of the earth), through Christian music, ministry, and education."
KSBJ’s mission statement clearly outlines how we plan to accomplish this vision.
“KSBJ shares the Gospel through Christian music, ministry, and education using broadcasting, events, and mentoring; promotes unity among Christians; and actively participates in our community. Our joy is in seeing this vision and mission accomplished. Sharing the Gospel of Christ, bringing people from diverse backgrounds together under His banner, and impacting our community in His name are things we’re passionate about."
How We Operate
KSBJ is not part of any one denomination or church. There’s not an organization or group of organizations that is responsible for paying our bills. We depend on listeners from many different churches and denominations to keep us operational. Once a year, during Sharathon, we take three days to ask listeners to supply our budget for the next fiscal year. God has been so good to us to provide for us in this way. We never have to run commercials; we never have to beg for support. Instead, we focus our efforts on doing radio that honors God, and trust Him to take care of the rest through our giving listeners.
Our Reputation
Recently certified by Best Christian Workplaces Institute as a “2010 Best Christian Workplace,” KSBJ is a ministry of integrity. Our volunteers, board of directors (also volunteers), and staff hold each other to high standards and live out our core values daily.
We’re members in good standing of the Evangelical Council on Financial Accountability (ECFA) who annually requires KSBJ to demonstrate the highest standards of board governance, financial transparency, integrity in fundraising, and proper use of financial resources. You can be assured when you trust KSBJ with your financial gifts; we’re using them as you would want us to.
